WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a procedure that uses fine needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled skin injury. It’s used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, bumpy skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues.
IS MICRONEEDLING FOR ME?
Most anyone can have the procedure performed as long as they do not have any active infections, lesions, or any known wound healing problems.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?
During the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied and then a pen-like tool called a derma roller is used to insert tiny stainless steel needles into the skin to cause micro-injuries or punctures. The damage caused by the needles encourages your body to send healing agents (elastin and collagen) to the cuts to repair them.
Afterward, there’s a little bit of redness and there might be some areas of pinpoint bleeding. Though most people leave the treatment a little red, it’s a no-downtime treatment. A couple of hours after treatment, you’re pretty much back to normal; the next day, you can resume your normal skincare routine and activities.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Microneedling produces fairly immediate results. Shortly after treatment, your skin will look plump and luminous for a couple of weeks. As part of a treatment regimen, skin will improve further over time, Skin treated with four microneedling sessions spaced one month apart can produce up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin six months after treatment.
